Ngari Prefecture is named the ridge of Tibet. The average altitude of Ngari is 4500 meters. The area of Ngari is with much land and few people. In general, travelers will charter vehicle in Shiquanhe or Lhasa. Presently, the only way to Ngari is by highway.

Ngari Prefecture is located in west of Tibet. The main roads to Ngari include Xinjiang-Tibet Highway, Anduo-Shiquanhe Highway and Lhasa-Pulan Highway. Due to the high altitude and bad natural environment, the highways to Ngari are often closed for bad weather.

When you have Ngari tour, the most convenient transportation is chartered car. The price of chartered car varies with high and low seasons. In general, the price of Landrover is about 1200 per day.

Ngari Tour – Delicacy

In Ngari, the price of food is expensive. There are many restaurants at the crossroad near to Ngari Guesthouse. These restaurants mainly provide Sichuan dishes. Pulan, because of lower altitude, affords green vegetable. So, you can have green vegetables in Pulan when have Ngari Tour.

In Shiquanhe Town, there are some restaurants proving Xinjiang dishes which are managed by Xinjiang people.

In Ngari, there are several kinds of Tibetan delicacy you should not miss, such as Jiuma (Blood Sausage), Duokang Bixi, Zhedang Guozhe, Longguo Kacha, Zhuoxue, Zhexue, Xueguo, Paza Mogu, Sangkang Pali, etc.

Ngari Tour – Accommodation

The condition of accommodation in Ngari is not very good. Except for hotels in Shigquanhe, hotels in other districts of Ngari almost are not equipped with shower facilities.

Accommodation in Shigquanhe

Now, there are several different standard hotels and guesthouses available. The hotel with higher standard is Postal Hotel. The price of standard cabin is about 200 CNY to 300 CNY. The middle standard hotels include Sanyuan Hotel and Hengyuan Hotel. The price of middle standard hotels is about 120 CNY. The economical accommodation is some guesthouses and inns.

Accommodation in Pulan County

In Pulan County, you can spend night in County Government Guesthouse. This guesthouse will provide hot water. The price is about 25 CNY per person.

Accommodation in Zhada County

In Zhada County, there are three hotels. The price of standard room in these hotels is about 100 CNY. In addition, there are some economical guesthouses which are about 30 CNY. But there is no place to have bath in these guesthouses.

Accommodation in Tarchen

In Tarchen, the hotel with better condition is Gangdise Hotel. The standard cabin of it is about 100 CNY.

Accommodation in Jiwu

Jiwu is located between Holy Lake and Ghost Lake. The accommodation in Jiwu is only family inn, such as Baima Villa.

Accommodation in Guge

Presently, there are several family inns in Zhaburang Village providing accommodation in Guge.
