Tsanang County – Introduction

Tsanang County is located in the south of middle part of Tibet, the middle reaches of Yarlung Zangbo River. This county has been divided into two parts by Yarlung Zangbo River, the south part and the north part. Both of the two parts are characteristic of the high mountains and valleys. The average elevation of Tsanang County is approximately 3620 meters high belong to plateau temperature semiarid monsoon climate zone. It covers an area of 2173 square kilometers, which the agricultural acreage is about 67000 mu (1 mu≈ 0.0007 square kilometers).

Tsanang County – Climate

In winter, Tsanang County features strong wind in winter and spring, the climate is arid. The sunlight is abundant and the frostless period is short, about 140 days. The sunshine duration of a year is about 3092 hours. The mean annual precipitation is approximately 420mm.

Tsanang County is divided into the south part and the north part by Yarlung Zangbo River, which the part of Yarlung Zangbo River in the county is 45 kilometers long.

Tsanang County – Resource

In Tsanang County, the mineral resource includes the copper and the ferrochromium. The animal and plant resource includes the antelope, black-necked cranes, bear, swan, grey crane, four feet snake, sika deer, grey crane, woodchucks, snow cock and Chinese caterpillar fungus, fritillary, and snow lotus herb, etc.

The agriculture and animal husbandry is the major production mode of Tsanang County. It includes the Highland barley, winter wheat, spring wheat, beans, peas, potatoes, turnip, and cabbage, etc. The animals mainly include the yak, horse, donkey and mule, sheep, and goats, etc.

The national handcraft industry mainly produces the textile, ceramics, the machining of gold and silver, and copper.

The special local products are potatoes, potteries, Tibetan incense, Tibetan desks, Tibetans shelves, and Tibetan sculptures, etc.

Tsanang County – Transportation

Tsanang County is approximately 40 kilometers away from the airport. Qushui – Tsona highway is available throughout the entire Tsanang County, which is approximately 47 kilometers long. The general highway in the county is about 120 kilometers long. The bus is available in the whole county. Besides, the motor boat is available on the water.

Tsanang County – Attractions

Samye Monastery is the first monastery which features the Buddhism, scripture and monks available in it in Tibet region. It was firstly constructed in 8th century and acted as the ancestral monastery of Nyingma Sect (red sect). It covers 25000 square meters and showed a shape of a circle. The architecture style is characteristic of Tibet, Han people, and Indian. It is one of the holy lands of Buddhists.

Minzhulin Monastery

Minzhulin Monastery was firstly established in 1677, which was acted as the monastery of Nyingma Sect. It features the Buddhist college style and pay attention to learn the Buddhism scripture, Tibetan grammar and rhetoric, astronomy and Tibetan medicines.

Langsailin Manor

Langsailin Manor was firstly constructed during the government of the Pazhu regime. It was the characteristic of Tibetan feudal serfdom society. Langsailin Manor is one of the essential sceneries along Yarlong River scenic spot.
