Tingqing County in Tibet – Brief Introduction

Tingqing County is located in the west part of Qamdo Prefecture and the northeastern part of Tibet Autonomous Region. It covers an area of 11562 square kilometers, which the agricultural acreage is about 110000 mu (1 mu ≈ 0.0007 square kilometers), the grassland acreage is about 15000000 mu, and the woodland acreage is about 35800 mu.

Tingqing County in Tibet – History

In Tibet history, Tingqing has been governed by different regions in different time. In Tang Dynasty, Tingqing County was governed by Tubo Dynasty. In Ming Dynasty, it was governed by Mongolians. In Qing Dynasty, it was governed by Qing Dynasty. In 1751 during Qing Dynasty, it was managed by the officer of Qing Dynasty in Tibet. In 1916, it was governed by the local government in Tibet Autonomous Region. In April of 1959, it has been combined with another two regions of Tibet and called Tingqing County. The Tingqing Town was the county center of Tingqing County. Since then on, Tingqing County was managed by Qamdo Prefecture.

Tingqing County in Tibet – Climate

Tingqing County belongs to plateau temperate semi-humid monsoon climate zone of eastern Tibet. It is very cold and dry in winter in Tingqing County in Tibet, but the climate is moderate and humid in summer. The annual temperature difference is little but the daily temperature difference is obviously large. The duration of sunshine is 2457 hours. The annual precipitation is 639 millimeters. The annual average temperature is about 3.4?. According to the record, the highest temperature is about 27 ? and the lowest temperature is about -25 ?. The largest tundra is 111 cm. There is no obvious frostless period in Tingqing County in Tibet.

Tingqing County in Tibet – Geography

The terrain of Tingqing County is higher in northwest part but lower in the southeast part. The landform features of Tingqing County are obvious from the northern Tibet grassland to the Hengduan Mountain Range. Therefore, Tingqing County is characteristic of the amazing natural sceneries of the river valleys, vast flat grassland, high mountains and thick primitive forests, etc. There are 10 high mountains which over 5000 meters. The highest mountain is 6328 meters and the lowest mountain is 3500 meters. The relative height difference is about 2000 meters. Besides, the dry season and the rainy season are clearly demarcated.

Tingqing County in Tibet – Resource

Both of the fertile land and comfortable climate are good for the crop growth such as the highland barley, wheat and different beans. In pasturing area, there are some yaks, goats, sheep, horse, donkey, and mules, etc. Besides, there are many rare medical herbs such as Chinese caterpillar fungus, rhizoma anemarrhenae, and gentiana macrophylla, etc. What's more, the mineral resource includes the gold, silver, Ferrum, Titanium, lead, ivory jade, dark green jade, marble, copper, chrome, magnesium, and coal, etc.

Tingqing County in Tibet – Attraction

There are some hot springs in different shapes along 317 National Highway (originated from Chengdu to Ngari Prefecture of Tibet). The water temperature is about 38-50?. There are many elements in the water which are good for our health, and some of them are good for the cure of the arthritis and skin disease.

Besides, the different sceneries of Pugyala Mountain also attract lots of tourists to visit. At the top of Pugyala Mountain you may find the snow scenery. In the mountainside you may enjoy many green trees. At the foot of the mountain, there are full of beautiful flowers.
