Naidong County

Naidong County is located in the south part of Mount Nyenchen Tanglha and the middle reaches of Yarlung Zangbo River. It covers an area of 2208.85 square kilometers, which the cultivated acreage covers 63587.1 mu (1 mu ≈ 0.0007 square kilometers). The average elevation of Naidong County is approxiamately 3565 meters high, and the mean average temperature is about 8.2?.

Tsedang town is the center of Naidong County, where is the location of Shannan prefecture government. Tsedang town is about 191 kilometers away from the Lhasa city in west, about 97 kilometers away from Gonggar Airport in west, about 300 kilometers away from Nyingchi Prefecture in east, and about 28 kilometers away from the tombs of the Tibetan Kings in south. It is the transportation junction and political, economic, and cultural center of southern Tibet.

It is more than 1600-year history of Naidong County, which is one of the earliest developmental regions in Tibet. There are more than 50 relics of Tibetan national culture and Tibetan Buddhism culture in Tibet region. Most of the attractions in Naidong County are famous in Tibet, such as Yunbu Lakhang – the first building available in Tibet region, Gyiru Lakhang, and Gongburi Mountain, etc.

Naidong County – Attraction

Trandruk Temple

Trandruk Temple is located in the south river bank of Yalong River in Naidong County, belong to Gelug Sect. It was firstly built under the rules of Songtsen Gampo. It was said to be the ashram of Princess Wencheng at that time. Padmasambhava and Milaripa have cultivated themselves here around Trandruk Temple, which the place has became the holy land respected by the devout Buddhists.

The jewelry Thangka is the treasure of Trandruk Temple. It is about 2 meters long and 1.2 meters wide, which made by 29026 pearls. Besides, there are other glaring diamonds and colorful gems on it.

Yunbu Lakhang

Yunbu Lakhang is located in a mountain about 5 kilometers away from the southeastern Tsedang town. It is the earliest palace and building in Tibet region. With more than 2100-year history, Yunbu Lakhang features 3-floor high.

Lashangpu Snow Mountain

Lashangpu Snow Mountain is about 6835.8 meters high, which usually covered snow in a whole year. It is the representative of the yak totem as it features the shape of the yak. It is the major source of water of Yalong River.
