Yaowang Hill

It is a mysterious tour from Lhasa to Shigatse during Tibet tour. There are many worthy and valuable attractions along the way such as Yaowang Hill, Tibet Museum, Drigongti Temple, Dezong Hot Spring, Dragon Pond, Tashilhunpo Monastery, Sakya Monastery, Rongbuk Monastery, Mount Everest, Palkhor Monastery, and Zongshan Castle, etc.

Yaowang Hill

Yaowang Hill is also named Gyabori in Tibetan language, which implied means a mountain over a mountain. At the end of the 17th Century, Sangye Gyatso devoted his lifetime promoting the Tibetan medicines. He ordered his man to build many medical schools on the mountains. Lots of lamas were elected to learn the medical knowledge in the medical school. The statue of the great leader (called Yaowang) is enshrined and worshipped in the school, so that the school is called the Yaowang Temple. Yaowang Temple is located in a mountain, so that the mountain is called Yaowang Hill.

There are many statues in different shapes on the dangerous cliffs and many religious doctrines. Large numbers of stone inscriptions are available in the grotto in the hillside. It is essential of Tibetan carving arts. Lots of believers and followers come to this mountain to pray.

Tibet Museum

Tibet Museum is situated in the southeast of Norbulingka of Lhasa City. It is a modern museum in Tibet. It was established in 1999 and covered an area of 53959 square meters. The exhibition hall covers an area of 10451 square meters. It looks very graceful and magnificent.

Drigongti Temple

Drigongti Temple is the central temple of Drigong Kargyu Sect, located in Shorong River in Mozhu Kongkya County in Tibet. It was established in AD 1179 available in the edge of the dangerous cliffs. Drigongti Temple is actually well known for the celestial burial platform of Tibet, as one of the top 2 celestial burial platforms of the world. The other one is available in India.

Dezong Hot Spring

Dezong Hot Spring is situated about 140 kilometers far from Lhasa City. It usually takes about 6 hours driving there from Lhasa City. The road condition is too bad and it is gravel road. The famous celestial burial and Drigongti Temple are both available about 7 kilometers far from Dezong Hot Spring.

Dragon Pond

Dragon Pond is one of the famous garden architectures of Lhasa City. There is a relatively bigger pond at the center of the garden. The deities are enshrined and worshipped in the pond. The dragon pond was built during the period of 6th Dalai Lama – Tsangyang Gyatso.

Degyi Orphanage

Degyi orphanage is located in the suburb of Lhasa City, founded by a Tibetan woman. It was established few years ago and as of now there are about 87 orphans. Some of the kids are Tibetan children, and some of them are Han people. It is mainly supported by social donation.

Mosque

There are about 5 mosques located about 3 kilometers far from Potala Palace. It is a gathering place of Hui people of Lhasa City.
