Zhegu Lake Travel Information – Brief Introduction of Zhegu Lake in Shannan Prefecture

Located in Shannan Prefecture in Tibet, Zhegu Lake is the paradise for the wild animals. It also attracts a large quantity of tourists with its picturesque scenery and distinctive folk customs. Zhegu Lake Travel Information – Herdsman's Festival at Zhegu Lake

The Herdsman's Festival is a traditional festival in Zhegu Lake Area. Generally, it would be celebrated between September 15th and 17th according to the Tibetan calendar. The grand Zhegu Lake area is a typical pasturing area and all the herdsmen would guide their livestock to the pasture with rich grass resource in summer. Most of those pastures are located in the remote areas with high altitude. In autumn, the herdsmen would back to their farming land to enjoy a happy time with their family members and friends. According to statistics, there are nearly 5000 herdsmen took part in the celebration of the Herdsman's Festival.

Tourists making a visit to Zhegu Lake during the celebration of the Herdsman's Festival will have the chance to witness various traditional Tibetan sports, and singing & dancing performances. In addition, tourists will also have the chance to taste some typical pasture flavor food and beverage, such as the fresh yoghourt.
