Scenic Spots in Nagqu Prefecture – Nyenchen Tanglha Mountain and Lake Namtso

Nyenchen Tanglha Mountain is about 100 kilometers away from the north of Lhasa. There are many miraculous and beautiful legends about the Nyenchen Tanglha Mountain. It is said that Nyenchen Tanglha Mountain and Namtso Lake are a beautiful couple. The mountain looks more magnificent against the holy lake while the Namtso Lake looks more gorgeous and charming against the Nyenchen Tanglha Mountain.

The picturesque natural landscape composed of the Nyenchen Tanglha Mountain and the holy lake attract a large quantity of tourists and pilgrims all around the world. The best season to visit Lake Namtso is between May and September in the consideration of the climate condition. Scenic Spots in Nagqu Prefecture – Qiangtang Prairie

Qiangtang Prairie in Nagqu Prefecture is one of the five largest pastures in China. Surrounded by Kunlun Mountains, Tanglha Mountains and Gangdise Mountains, Qiangtang Prairie is widely noted as the paradise of the wild animals. The famous ancient road which connected Tubo Kingdom and Chinese Tang Dynasty stretch across the Qiangtang Prairie from the north to the south.

Scenic Spots in Nagqu Prefecture – Seringtso Lake

Seringtso Lake is the second largest lake in Tibet and the third largest salt water lake in China. Covers an area of 1640 square kilometers, Seringtso Lake ranks only second to Namtso Lake. It is researched that the central lake area enjoys a water depth of more than 30 meters. There are 23 lakes with different sizes around Seringtso Lake. It is said that all these lakes were formed a giant lake surface several million years ago. Thousands of Larus brunnicephalus would fly to here from the far away Mediterranean every summer. Seringtso Lake is also the largest natural reserve of black-necked cranes in the world. A series of rare wild animals also live around Seringtso Lake, such as the snow leopard, Argali sheep, snow cock, Tibetan kiang and so on.
