Trekking tour from Tsurphu Monastery

Tsurphu Monastery is about 70 kilometers away from Lhasa City. For tourists planning to join the trekking tour from Tsurphu Monastery to Yampachen, Tibet Tour would arrange a vehicle to transport you to Tsurphu Monastery first and you will start the trekking tour after visiting the ancient Tsurphu Monastery. It should be noted that the road between Lhasa and Tsurphu Monastery is composed of two sections – the asphalt section and the bumpy section. For tourists making a self-help tour in Tibet, it is advisable to rent a SUV to Tsurphu Monastery so as to cope with the bumpy road (about 2hours driving).

Trekking Tour from Tsurphu Monastery to Yampachen – Lhasa-Tsurphu Monastery-Leten

On our first trekking day, we will camp at Leten, which is about 11 kilometers away to the west of Tsurphu Monastery. It takes about 4 hours to finish this trekking journey. On our way to Leten, we can witness an amazing prayer flag site and Mani Wall. Streams and herds of wild blue sheep might be interesting landscape of our first trekking day.

Trekking Tour from Tsurphu Monastery to Yampachen – Leten-Bartso

On the second day of our trekking tour from Tshurphu Monastery to Yampachen, we will trek to Bartso from Leten. With an altitude of 5300 meters, the Lasar-la Mountain Pass is about 3 hours trekking away from Leten. Actually, this mountain pass is the highest point on the trekking route between Tsurphu Monastery and Yampachen. After climbing over the Lasar-la Mountain Pass, the road leads toward the Yampachen Valley with a much lower altitude steeply. The Tibetan families at Bartso provide potable water for visitors. It takes about three hours to trek to Bartso from Leten.

Trekking Tour from Tsurphu Monastery to Yampachen – Bartso-Yampachen

On the third day of our trekking tour from Tsurphu Monastery to Yampachen we have to finish the 14 kilometers between Bartso and Yampachen. We will have the chance to witness the peaceful village landscape of Tajung Village. The road between Bartso and Tajung Village keeps descending. We will also have the chance to take an overview of Mt. Nyenchen Thanglha if there is a high visibility. Dorjeling Nunnery is a cultural highlight of this trekking journey. This nunnery always leaves visitors deep impression with its special religious atmosphere.

Another few hours is needed to finish the trekking journey between Dorjeling Nunnery and Yampachen Monastery. Mostly, tourists would like to rent a tractor to Yampachen Hot Spring to enjoy the magnificent hot spring resource. We have to depend on solid food and water prepared in advance. Hence, it is necessary to rent a yak and employ a yak keeper to help us to carry the tents, necessary articles for daily use and food. Tourists planning to do this trekking tour in the rainy season should also prepare a rain-proof coat in case of encounter with a sudden rain during the trekking.
