Tingri to Mt. Everest Base Camp Trekking Tour

There is one classic trekking route from Tingri to Mt. Everest Base Camp, which is liked by most of European tourists and Americans, but few Chinese people were interested in this route.. It is a fantastic experience to walk through the barren mountain and badlands with our strengthen feet. It is approximately 70 kilometers far and takes 3-4 days hiking. You can stay in the tent with your warm sleeping bags or ask for stay in the small local Tibetan villages along the way, however, the cookers and tents are both useful and helpful. Your alternative clothes are necessary for Tibet tour even in summer, as the temperature difference is extremely big in a day as well as your tour duration.

Trek from Tingri to Mt. Everest Base Camp

D1 Gewula Mountain Pass, 5145 milestone (15 kilometers, 4-5 hours)

5145 milestone is located in the west of Tingri County about 6 kilometers far. It will take you about 1 hour hiking to the checkpoint of Mt. Everest Base Camp Natural Reserve. If you think you are already reach Mt. Everest Base Camp, you are wrong. Your Tibet Entry permit, Alien's travel permits as well as your military permit will be checked there. Afterwards, you can go ahead to Qyezha and ask for stay with local Tibetan's family. The yak renting costs about RMB 400/ 2 persons, and the yak workers cost about RMB 200/ yak.

Two ways ahead to Zhaka Valley are available nearby Qyezha. You can park your car in the west and hike in the east. Whatever the option you choose, you will gather together at the top of Zhaka Valley. About 10 minutes' walking, you can see a wide path which leads to Zhaka Valley. After 1 hour walking you will find the source of water, and then you will start climbing Gewula Mountain Pass from there.

You will have a chance to overlook the fascinating scenery of Himalaya Mountain Range standing in Gewula Mountain Pass. You will have a chance to overlook Makalu Mountain and Mt. Everest from the south. In the southwest, you can overlook Cho Oyu Peak. At the end of your visual field you will find Shisha Pangma Peak. Cho Oyu Peak, Shisha Pangma Peak, and Mt. Everest are ones of the top 4 highest mountains of Tibet. The rest one is Lotse Peak. All of them are over 4000 meters high, which Shisha Pangma Peak is the only one highest peak in China, I mean, the whole mountain body.
