Yarlung Zangbo River, Mt. Everest, Trandruk Temple in 2014

Trandruk Temple is situated in the eastern river bank of Yarlung River in Shanna Prefecture about 2 kilometers far from Naidong County. It was said to be built by Songtsen Gampo in AD 7th Century during Tubo Dynasty. Acted as the earliest Buddhist hall in Tibet, it has more than 1730 years history.

In Tibetan language, Trandruk Temple means the dragon. Constructed by the post and pannel, Trandruk Temple has 2 floors. The Buddha of Songtsen Gampo's was enshirined in the first floor and the padmasambhava Buddha statue was worshipped in the 2nd floor. It is 45 meters long and 29 meters wide, covering an area of 1300 square meters. There is a pearl Thangka preserved in the main hall. It is the precious treasure of the world.

As you may know, Mt. Everest is 8848.13 meters high. It is the highest peak of the world. It is located in the south of Tingri County and the border line of the middle section of Hiamalaya Mountain Range. It is covered by the snow the whole year around.

Based on the scientist's research and our Tibet tour organization experience, the best time to climb Mt. Everst is from April to June. If you are lucky enough, you will have a chance to watch the crowd stars lying at the closest place toward to the sky.

Yarlung Zangbo River refers to the water flowing from the highest peak in Tibetan language. It originates from the glacier of the middle section of Himalaya Mountain Range. The upper stream of Yarlung Zangbo River is Maquan River that flows into Nyanchu River, Lhasa River and Lakhazangbo River. To the south, the upper stream flows into Laputela River in India. The downstream flows into the bay of bengal.

Yarlung Zangbo River is more than 2900 kilometers long in total, which the available section in China is 2057 kilometers long. The river basin acreage is 93000 square kilometers that the available section in China is 24000 square kilometers. The river bed of Yarlung Zangbo River is more than 3000 meters high. It is the river which proud of the highest altitude in the world.
