The period between July and October is the best season to visit Tibet since there is always a good weather and the oxygen content in the air is relatively higher compared to the other seasons. For the consideration of health and safety, seniors suffering a cold are not advised to go to Tibet before a full recovery. A comprehensive physical examination is also very important for seniors before enter into Tibet. It is dangerous to make a Tibet tour for tourists suffering a hypertension, heart diseases, tracheitis, glycuresis and some other severe chronic diseases.

Though good health condition is an important premise for seniors planning a Tibet tour, tourists are not advised to do some special physical exercises before enter into Tibet. In addition, tourists keeping doing some physical exercises are suggested to stop training about half a month before your departure date. It is reported that the trained body requires a larger oxygen consumption which will put extra burden to the heart and would easily cause high altitude sickness.

Tips for Seniors Planning a Tibet Tour – Prevention of High Altitude Sickness

The glucose and Rhodiola rosea are said to be the most common medicines effective in the prevention of high altitude sickness. Seniors are strongly recommended to take the preventive medicines about two weeks in advance of your departure date. These medicines would improve your physical fitness and your adaptability to the plateau environment, and also strengthen your cardipvascular.

Generally, the high altitude sickness symptoms will disappear in 2 days if you have a strong adaptability to the plateau environment. But it takes 3-7 days to get adapted to the high altitude if you have a poor adaptability. Slight symptoms of high altitude sickness might be relieved through self-adaptation while the severe symptoms of high altitude sickness need to get professional treatment from the doctors.
