Besides, the ultraviolet radiation is in its strongest condition around 13:00 p.m. and the sunshine radiation in Tibet is much stronger in the summer season compared to the winter season. It is really necessary to prepare some necessary sun-blocking items for tourists making a Tibet tour in summer.

According to the scientific research, the ultraviolet radiation could be divided into UVA, UVB and UVC according to its wavelength. The sun's UVA, UVB and UVC rays hurt our skin differently. The UVA rays lay small affect on our skin for most of them would be absorbed while crossing the ozonosphere. The UVB rays of the sun could hurt the surface of our skin while the UVC rays could hurt our dermis. There might be swelling, decrustation, ache or blister on our skin if it is hurt by UVB rays of the sun. Be different from the UVB rays, the UVA rays of the sun would make our skin rough and wrinkle up.

Tourists making a Tibet tour should note that the strength of the ultraviolet radiation is closely related to the amount of the clouds. The ultraviolet radiation would be stronger if the weather is clearer. According to statistics provided by Tibet Weather Bureau, the ultraviolet radiation in Tibet is the strongest in June. Obviously, the sunshine radiation is stronger in the summer season compared to the winter season. In the hot summer between July and August, the sunshine is not as strong as that in June for it rains frequently in the rainy season between July and August.

To protect yourself from the strong sunshine, tourists in Lhasa are strongly suggested to prepare sun-blocking cream, sunglasses, and sunbonnet in advance. Tourists should avoid outdoor activities between 12:00 and 15:00 p.m. for the ultraviolet radiation is at its strongest condition during that period. Lhasa is not only noted as a holy city, but also noted as a sunshine city. There is even rich sunshine in the cold winter season. Actually, tourists should prepare sun-blocking stuffs even in winter.
