Dharp Monastery is a famous monastery belongs to Gelug Sect. It is an ancient monastery which could be dated back to the 12th century. The main construction of Dharpu Monastery is a 3-storey building. The first floor acted as the central hall where the gold-plated bronze statue of Sakyamuni is enshrined. The second floor acted as the dormitory of the living Buddha and lamas of Dharpu Monastery. The third floor acted as the Buddha hall where the gilding bronze statue of Akshobhyavajra is enshrined.

Though Dharp Monastery is not as famous as Drepung Monastery, Sera Monastery or Jokhang Monastery, the precious historical relics collected in this monastery also attracts a large number of tourists.
