Kehkya Monastery is located in Kehkya County, about 100 kilometers away from Purang County, Ngari Prefecture. It is one of the most famous monasteries in Ngari Prefecture. Kehkya Monastery was named after the place and enjoys high reputation in Ngari Prefecture. It is said that Kehkya Monastery was constructed by one of the kings of Guge Kingdom. It is a monastery belongs to Sakya Sect of Tibetan Buddhism. Manjushri Buddha was enshrined in the monastery and there is a large number of followers of Tibetan Buddhism would come here to show their respect to the Buddha every year.
