Mt. Everest is the main peak of Himalayas. It is the highest peak above the sea level with an altitude of 8844.43 meters. Tourists making a self-help tour to Mt. Everest need to get to Tingri County first and then continue the journey to Mt. Everest Base Camp. The section of State Highway G318 (also noted as Sino-Nepal Highway) between Lhasa and Tingri is asphalted and road condition is pretty good.
