There are many bicycle rental sites in Lhasa City, among which the rental site at Jokhang Temple is quite easy to be found and it provides great convenience for tourists willing to choose the Jokhang Temple - Norbu Lingka - Lhasa Railway Station - Zongjiao Lukhang Park - Jokhang Temple self-riding route.

Norbu Lingka is about 4 kilometers away from Jokhang Temple and it takes about 20 minutes to complete this section by self-driving. Jokhang Temple is a must-visit site for visitors interested in Tibetan Buddhism culture and Norbu Lingka is a must-visit site for visitors have strong interest in the traditional Tibetan architectural art. In addition, self-riders could also make a stop at Taiyang Island and Xianzu Island to seek for delicious loca snacks and special handicrafts.

After visiting Norbu Lingka, self-riders could continue their journey to Lhasa Railway Station. The beautiful Liuwu Bridge is the highlight of this section. Noted as the first overpass in Tibet, Liuwu Bridge was completed and opened to traffic on May 1st, 2007. Though Liuwu Bridge is a modern construction, traditional Tibetan cultural elements were also integrated into the construction could also be found if you take a close look. Lhasa River under the bridge enjoys speical status in local Tibetans' mind. Self-riders could also take an overlook of Potala Palace and Drepung Monastery on Liuwu Bridge. Tips for Self-riding Tour in Lhasa City

In consideration of the high altitude and thin air in Lhasa, tourists are not advised to do a self-riding tour before you get a full adaptation to the plateau environment physically. Sports might cause severe high altitude sickness for tourists coming to Lhasa the first time. Therefore, tourists planning a self-riding tour in Lhasa City are strongly suggested to take break frequently during the riding tour. Enough water drinking is quite necessary.
