Namtso Trekking Tour – Scenic Spots in Dangxung County

As we all known, Namtso Lake is located between Dangxung County of Lhasa City and Banggo County of Nagqu Prefecture. Tibet would like to make a brief introduction of Dangxung County for tourists willing to do a Namtso trekking tour and interested in Dangxung County.

Namtso Trekking Tour - Namtso Lake in Dangxung County

Namsto Lake covers an area of 1920 square kilometers, is located in the north of Dangxung County. 45 percent of Namtso Lake is located in Dangxung County while the left part situated in Banggo County. Dangxung County is widely known for Namtso Lake, a holy lake highly respected by the followers of Tibetan Buddhism. The devout pilgrims from Qinghai Province, Gansu Province, Sichuan Province, Yunnan Province and even some other countries would come to Namtso Lake for pilgrimage every year.

Namtso Trekking Tour - The Eight Pagodas in Dangxung County

The Eight Pagodas in Northern Tibet is located on the prairie near Dangxung County. It has been one of the must-visit scenic spots for tourists making a Namtso trekking tour and spending some time in Dangxung. It is said that General Sharpa, a favorite general of King Gesar was buried under the Eight Pagodas. General Sharpa gave up his life heroically here in a battle. The herdsmen on Northern Tibet Prairie would come here to show their respect to the hero on 15th and 30th of each month according to the Tibetan calendar. Some of the tourists making a Namtso trekking tour would also get off the bus here to pray for blessings.

Namtso Trekking Tour - La-ken-la Mountain Pass in Dangxung County

La-ken-la Mountain Pass with an elevation of 5190 meters, located in Dangxung County, is on the way to Namtso Lake. Most of the tourists here would take a stop here to experience the wind and atmosphere of the highest point on the way to Namtso Lake. The flying prayer flags here always are the irremovable beauty in the mind of tourists who've been here. For local Tibetans, all the mountain passes are respectful and the prayer flags were hanging to show their respect the deities. Tourists planning a Namtso trekking tour and willing to take some pictures at La-ken-la Mountain Pass are strongly recommended to prepare a warm down jacket since the temperature here is pretty low.

Namtso Trekking Tour – Kamma Monastery in Dangxung County

Kamma Monastery is the largest monastery in Dangxung County. It is a typical monastery of Gelug Sect of Tibetan Buddhism administrated by Sera Monastery in Lhasa. There are 62 Buddhists living and cultivating themselves in the monastery currently. Kamma Monastery is quite noted for its ancient and precious stone carvings which could be dated back to 300 years ago.
