1.What is the peak season of Tibet tour? How's the weather like?

Generally, the period between July and August is regarded as the peak season of Tibet tour for its pleasant weather. In summer, Tibet is much cooler than the other regions at the same latitude. The temperature would not be higher than 30 Celsius. There might be frequent night rainfall, but it is always sunny with the coming of a new morning.

2.How's the accommodation in Tibet? Is it necessary to make a reservation in advance?

There are numerous star-standard hotels in Lhasa, Shigatse and some bigger county seats and town seats in Tibet. There is only rough guesthouse in some sparsely populated and laggard areas, especially in Ngari Prefecture. The rooms are always in great demand during the Chinese May 1st Holiday, National Day Holiday and Tibetan Shoton Festival for a large number of domestic tourists in other regions would rush to Tibet. Tourists planning to make a Tibet tour between July and August are always advised to make a reservation in advance due to the peak season.

3.Is there any restriction for foreign tourists planning a Tibet tour?

Foreign tourists are not allowed to do any self-help tour to Tibet. Foreign tourists could only travel to Tibet through the organization of a formal Tibet tour operator in China. This operator would be responsible of the tour schedule and application of the required Tibet Travel Permits. Tourists could not board on the train or flight to Tibet without the Tibet Entry Permit approved by Tibet Tourism Bureau. The overseas Chinese without Chinese passport are also required to apply for the Tibet Travel Permits.

4.Can I apply for the Nepal Visa in Lhasa if I am planning to visit Nepal after the Tibet tour?

Nepal established two embassies in China, one is in Beijing and the other one is in Lhasa. It is pretty convenient and simple to apply for the Nepal Visa from the Nepal Embassy in Lhsa if you prepared the necessary documents previously. Tourists planning to visit Nepal directly after the Tibet tour are strongly recommended to pay a visit to the Nepal Embassy to make an appointment with the visa officer once you arrive in Lhasa.

5.Is it safe to bring some cash to Tibet? Can I use my credit card in Tibet?

In fact, it is pretty safe to bring necessary cash in Tibet. The public security in Tibet is in good condition. The bank service is available in bigger cities and towns. The credit card of Bank of China, Agricultural Bank of China and China Construction Bank could be used conveniently. Some of the high-standard hotels and restaurants in Tibet allow credit card payment.

6.Can I use the US dollar directly in Tibet? Is there any place providing currency exchange service?

The US dollar could not be used in Tibet directly. Tourists have to exchange it into RMB. Bank of China in Lhasa provides currency exchange service for tourists making a Tibet tour. In addition, some star-standard hotel also provides currency exchange service for their clients.
