Tibet Tourism Enters into Its Low Season with the Coming of November

With the improvement of the transportation condition on Tibet Plateau, a large number of tourists both at home and abroad would like to spend their holiday in Tibet. Tibet has experienced its last high season in the National Day holiday, 2012. Tibet tourism enters into its low season with the coming of November.

According to the statistics provided by Tibet Tourism Bureau, Tibet received more than 0.23 million tourists and achieved a tourism revenue of 0.247 billion RMB between September 30th and October 7th. The number has increased 20 percent compared to the same period of last year while the revenue has increased 29 percent compared to the last year.

It is reported that Tibet has received 0.582 million tourists since January 2012. The total number of tourists increased 22.8 percent compared to the last year. Besides, the daily reception capacity also improved obviously. Tibet has received more than 74 000 tourists and realized a daily tourism revenue of 33 million RMB on the 7th day of the National Day holiday.

There are about 1365 tourism enterprises and companies in Tibet till the first half of 2012 according to the information provided by Tibet Tourism Bureau. The tourism industry in Tibet enjoys a fixed asset of 15 billion RMB and the number of practitioners in tourism industry reaches 0.2478 million. Currently, there are 104 travel agencies, 194 star-standard hotels, 7 tourism buses companies in Tibet. The reception capacity of Tibet Autonomous Region has improved obviously.

It should be mentioned that Tibet was not crowded by huge crowds of people like other scenic spots in China during the National Day holiday. There was no severe traffic jam in the main roads in Tibet since the transportation condition in Tibet has greatly improved. A large number of domestic tourists preferred the self-driving Tibet tour so as to better enjoy their favorite natural landscapes and historical relics.

Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Tashilhunpo Monastery, Mt. Everest, Namtso Lake, Baksumtso and some other famous scenic spots were also the most popular destinations for tourists coming to Tibet. The fascinating natural landscapes and sunny weather during the National Day holiday made tourists feel pretty good. But with the coming of November, Tibet tourism enters into its low season. The number of tourists coming to Tibet will decrease obviously compared to the high season.
