Tibet Experienced Its Last High Season of Tourism in 2012

Tibet tourism is closely related to the weather condition due to its special geographical location and October holiday is the last high season of Tibet tourism. It is reported that Tibet received about 80 000 tourists averagely during the Mid-autumn Festival and the National Day Holiday.

According to the statistics provided by Tibet Tourism Bureau, Tibet received more than 74 000 tourists on October 6th and received 79 000 tourists on October 5th. The daily number of tourists increased more than 23 percent compared to the same period of last year.

It is reported that the number of tourists coming to Tibet increased obviously compared to the first 3 days of the National Day Holiday. Tibet received more than 87 000 tourists on October 3rd. A large number of tourists from other parts of China visited Lhasa, Nyingchi, Shigatse and Shannan. In addition, a large number of local Tibetans also visited other regions to spend the holiday with their family members and friends. Tibet received more than 87 000 tourists in total and achieved a total tourism revenue of 35 million RMB till 17:00 on October 3rd.

To guarantee tourists a safe and happy Tibet tour, the related tourism departments in Tibet put great importance in the security work. They strengthened the safety awareness of the tour guides and drivers. The local hotels and scenic spots are also required to enhance their safety management. Besides, a series of measures were also adopted to prevent the occurrence of the traffic accidents.

Generally, the period between May 1st and October 1st is regarded as the high season of Tibet tourism since the weather condition would be relatively pleasant compared to the other periods. The number of tourists entering into Tibet would be decreased obviously due to the severe weather condition in winter. The peak season in October would always be the last high season of Tibet tourism in a year since Tibet is already much colder than the other parts of China. Tourists chose to make a Tibet tour in October would have the chance to enjoy the amazing natural landscapes on Tibet Plateau and explore the mysterious culture and history of Tibet through the cultural relics.
