With the ending of the May Day holiday, an increasingly number of foreign tourists is entering into Lhasa for sightseeing. The hotels, guest houses and hostels in Lhasa are receiving more visitors. It is reported that the price of most of the hotels in Lhasa is raised due to the large demand.

Actually, some of the hotels in Tibet have two different price patterns in the peak season and the low season of Tibet tour. Generally, the price is lower between November and April and the price would be relatively higher between May and October. The price of some of the most noted hotels in Lhasa even doubles in the peak season. Not only the hotel price, the price of the admission ticket in some of the scenic spots in Tibet also increases in the peak season, such as Potala Palace in Lhasa, Palkhor Monastery in Shigatse and Baksumtso Lake in Nyingchi.

While there is a modest increase in the price of some hotels, the price of the other hotels raised markedly. Some managers of the hotels, guest houses and hostels even make their price of different standards of rooms doubled in the peak season. According to interviews, most of the tourists making a Tibet tour in the peak season could accept the price rising of the hotels in Tibet. There is also a small number of tourists who is planning to find hotels after arriving in Lhasa feeling defenseless for the sudden price rising of the hotels for they have to spend more budget in accommodation during their stay in Tibet.

There is a large number of self-help tourists enter into Tibet through the State Highway G318 by self-driving or self-riding in May every year. And then, a large quantity of tourists would enter into Tibet by air or trains. Hence, the managers of the hotels and guest houses would like to adjust their price in May. For tourists willing to spend less in the accommodation during the stay in Tibet, it is an intelligent choice to avoid entering into Tibet in the low season.

Except for the increased price of the hotels, tourists making a Tibet tour in the peak season should also take the limited rooms in consideration. The rooms in the most noted hotels are in great demand between May and October, and tourists have to book the room in advance in case of any full-booking. For tourists have a higher demand in the accommodation, the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel in Lhasa and Jardin Secret Hotel in Lhasa would be good choices. Yak Hotel and Sunrise Hotel are also good choices for tourists have a budget control in accommodation.

Most of the star-standard hotels in Lhasa provide pick-up and drop-off service for their clients. Tourists who have a lot of baggage could contact the hotel to reserve the relevant service in advance. Lhasa Gonggar Airport is about 70 kilometers away from the down town of Lhasa City while the Lhasa Railway Station is about 30 kilometers away.
