The largest 5-star hotel in Lhasa is under construction

Intercontinental Resort Lhasa Paradise is opening soon. It is reported that it is the first time that the Intercontinental Hotel Groups come to Tibet. It will be the largest 5-star hotel in Tibet after it is completed. Also, it will be the highest resort of the Intercontinental Hotel Groups above the sea level.

Intercontinental Resort Lhasa Paradise is located on the bank of the beautiful Lhasa River. It is only a few kilometers away from the Lhasa City Government and the world famous Potala Palace. According to the principal of the International Resort Lhasa Paradise, they are engaged in the full preparation of the opening of the hotel currently. Designed as the largest 5-star hotel in Lhasa, International Resort Lhasa Paradise has a total construction area of nearly 0.22 million square meters. There will be 2000 rooms in total. 472 deluxe rooms and suites in the first phase of construction. These rooms will be equipped with central oxygen supply facilities.

Also, a series of supporting facilities will also be completed in the first period, including 10 restaurants providing different flavors of food, billiard parlor and book bar. 861 rooms will be completed in the second phase of construction. Indoor swimming pool, SPA center and 861 rooms will be completed in the second phase of construction.

To meet the demand of visitors from different corners of the world, Lhasa keeps attracting different hotel groups in recent years. Except for the St. Regis and Four Points by Sheraton Hotel in Lhasa, another super 5-star hotel was opened in Lhasa recently. Lhasa Shangri-la Hotel was officially opened to guests on April 17th, 2014. According to information provided by the hotel, there are 289 luxury rooms and suites in Lhasa Shangri-la Hotel in total. Both the hardware facilities and services in this hotel could meet the demands from different corners of the world.

It is reported that more 5-star hotels will be constructed in different prefectures on Tibet Plateau to provide better service for visitors. St. Regis is the first real 5-star hotel in Lhasa. Four Pointes by Sheraton Hotel in Lhasa, Shangri-la Hotel and Intercontinental Resort Lhasa Paradise were opened for business gradually. Shangri-la Hotel is only about 10 minutes walking away from Norbu Lingka and Potala Palace.

Currently, the accommodation condition in Tibet had been improved greatly compared to the earlier years. Visitors could choose to rest in different hotels according to your demand and budget in the relatively advanced cities and towns (such as Lhasa, Shigatse and Nyingchi). But the accommodation condition is still limited in the lagged regions, such as Zhangmu and Ngari. Only simple guesthouse is available in these remote towns. For tourists willing to visit the faraway and sparsely populated regions, the crude guesthouse or temple might be the only choice. For tourists willing to rest in the tent, it is necessary to make a good preparation in advance.
