Tibet Travel Advice - Certifications

Certifications: Identity card, Alien's Travel Permits, Military Permit, passport, Home visit permits.

The packing rules: in general, tourists are kindly suggested to take the light bags, such as a small backpack and a big backpack. You'd better not take too many things. The forbidden objects and dangerous goods are prohibited by China laws.

Pocket: the important things such as certifications, money, and credit card could be put in the pocket. The pocket should be taken with you all the time.

All-purpose cross cutter: if you stay in guesthouse in Tibet, the knives are not provided by the hostel. When you eat fruits, open the tin, or fix the car, you may need the all-purpose cross cutter.

Cold-proof clothes: the temperature difference is big and obvious during a day. Even in July and August in summer, the snow happens sometimes. For example, in the northern Tibet in July and August, local Tibetans even wear cotton-padded clothes. The highest temperature is about 6-10 ?. In Lhasa city, the sunlight is strong and the sun duration is long. The temperature is about 26-28 ?. After sunset, the temperature could reduce to 10?. At night it usually snows. You'd better take the down jackets with hats, woolen sweater, warm gloves if you will visit Mt. Everest Base Camp and Mt. Kailash.

Skin care products: You'd better take your sunglasses, sunhat, sunscreen cream and other skin care products.

Medicine: Due to the lack of oxygen and lower pressure, the water is not boiled 100% sometimes. You'd better prepare antidiarrheic and some other clearing heat tea. Vitamin C is also helpful to strengthen your physical resistance. The lip pomade could prevent your lips from seasoning crack. You are also suggested to take some chocolate and other high calorie diet to release the severe headache before you acclimatize the highland environment. You may feel better if you have Rhodiola rosea about 3 days before your departure date. The Rhodiola rosea may help you prevent from the high altitude sickness.

Flashlight: we always set out in the morning and come back in the evening, so, tourists are kindly suggested to take spare battery and spare flashlight.

Oxygen bag: most of tourists need oxygen bag when they travel in Tibet. You'd better buy it before you enter Tibet, or ask the travel agency for it when you arrive in Tibet.

Travel Kettle or sleeping bags: Drinking more water more times is usually advised to every tourist, as well as eating more fruits. The suggestions are good for you to avoid the high altitude sickness. Why sleeping bags? If you travel to Mt. Everest Base Camp, Mt. Kailash, or other remote areas of Tibet, you'd better take your own sleeping bags. It is more healthy and clean. In Mt. Everest Base Camp, Rongbuk Guesthouse is not as healthier as you imagine, so we usually kindly suggest tourists to stay in the tent. In general, 4-6 people stay in one tent.
