Notes of Driving along Yunnan-Tibet Highway - Advice

1.The road condition is not very good on Yunnan-Tibet Highway. There are a lot of steep slopes and curves. It is more difficult to drive or ride along Yunan-Tibet Highway in the rainy season. Some natural disasters sometimes happened such as the debris flow, collapse and landslide, etc.

2.Do not travel alone on Yunnan-Tibet Highway in haste. It is better to have some partners in your group. You could alternatively drive the car in case you are tired. Do not have fatigue driving.

3.You'd better take a physical examination, so some exercise and have some medicines such as the Rhodiola rosea before your tour starts, as it is easy to suffer the high altitude sickness when you climb over the high mountain passes. Better safe than sorry.

4.We kindly suggest you to spend few days for relaxing during your journey. Do not park your car in the turning or some places of soft geology.

5.Do not take photos in the vital area along the way.

6.Please pay much attention to the flocks and herds on the road.

7.We kindly suggest you to check the safety performance of your car every day.

8.You could take some oxygen bags in case you or your teammates suffer the acute mountain sickness. It could alleviate the symptoms. People who suffer the high altitude sickness or the acute mountain sickness in your team should be sent to the hospital as soon as possible.

9.The Pressure Gauge is helpful for you to check if your car's tire fine.

10.We do not suggest the green hand to drive to Tibet as there are a lot of unpredictable dangers on the way.

Notes of Driving along Yunnan-Tibet Highway – Road Condition

The road condition has been confirmed in 2012. If you would like to know more please feel free to contact us.

1.There are some asphalt roads and gravel roads along Yunnan-Tibet Highway.

2.The way from Shangri-la to the Salt Well Area was opened to traffic, even though the road was repairing. It is gravel road.

3.Some sections of the road from the Salt Well Area to Mangkang County are repairing, but they were opened to traffic, too. It is asphalt road.

4.It is better to get the nonskid chain on the car tires when you pass Zuogong Dongda Mountain Pass. The road is easy to skid if it snows.

5.The road condition between Ranwu Town and Bome is very bad. Please take care.

Notes of Driving along Yunnan-Tibet Highway – Preparations

Car

As the road condition of some sections along Yunnan-Tibet Highway is bad, we kindly suggest tourists to drive the off-road vehicle. In addition, get some spare items for the car, such as safety fuse, empty oil bottle, tow rope, spare wheel, spanner and screwdriver, etc.

Licenses

Tibet Travel Permits, passport, Chinese visa, credit card, driving license, ID card.

Medicines

We kindly suggest you to prepare the headache medicine, stomachache medicine, Rhodiola rosea, Antidiarrheal, commonly used tablets such as cold and flu tablets, Anti-inflammatory, and febrifuge, etc.
