Documents needed for Singaporeans Planning a Tibet Tour - Chinese Visa

Tourists holding an ordinary Singapore passport planning to travel to mainland China for business, sightseeing or visiting your friends/relatives for less than 15 days are not required to apply for the Chinese Visa since Sep.19th, 2008. Be different from the trip to any other parts in mainland China, Singaporeans are also required to obtain a Chinese Visa in advance.

Singaporeans planning to get to Tibet via any other domestic cities (such as Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu and Chongqing) could apply for the Chinese Visa at any Chinese Embassy in Singapore. It should be noted that tourists planning to enter into Tibet via Nepal are required to apply for the Chinese Visa from the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu (it is an agreement between the governments in China and Nepal) no matter you've got your visa or not, and your Chinese Visa obtained in the other countries/cities will be regarded as invalid.

Documents needed for Singaporeans Planning a Tibet Tour – Tibet Travel Permit (Tibet Entry Permit)

Tibet Travel Permit is also noted as Tibet Entry Permit. It is a permit issued to tourists willing to visit Tibet for sightseeing by Tibet Tourism Bureau. Foreign tourists are required to produce the original copy of your Tibet Travel Permit while boarding on the plane to Tibet, and the scanned copy is required while boarding on the train to Tibet. Without this permit, tourists not holding a Chinese ID card can not get on the train or plane to Tibet.

Aliens Travel Permit is needed for foreign tourists planning to pay a visit to the counties/towns/regions not declared to open to foreign visitors in Tibet. Actually, some famous ancient monasteries (such as Samye Monastery and Trandruk Monastery in Tsedang, Shannan Prefecture) and fascinating natural spots are located in these regions/counties. Be different from the basic Tibet Travel Permit, the Aliens Travel Permit is not issued by Tibet Tourism Bureau, and it is issued by the local Public Security Bureau instead.

The Military Allowance is needed for Singaporeans willing to visit some remote and special regions in Tibet. 2014 is the year of horse according to the Tibetan calendar. A large number of pilgrims from different corners of the world will rush to Mt. Kailash for pilgrimage between May and September. And the Military Allowance is required for all the foreign tourists and pilgrims willing to visit Mt. Kailash in Ngari Prefecture. In addition, foreign tourists are required to apply for the Military Allowance if you are planning to enter into Tibet along the four highways, including the Xinjiang-Tibet Higheay (also noted as State Highway G219), the Qinghai-Tibet Highway, the Sichuan-Tibet Highway and the Yunnan-Tibet Highway.
