2013 Riding Tour of Tibet From Xindu Bridge town to

D6 Xindu Bridge Town (K2893, 3630m) – Garsi Mountain (K2927, 4412m) – Garsi Police Station (K2928) – Yajiang River (K2964, 2530m) – Shangkezong Village (K2981, 3500m)

Both of the gravel road and asphalt road are available today. It is approximately 92 kilometers long in total today.

Due to reduce the difficulty tomorrow, we kindly suggest tourists to overnight in Shangkezong Village instead of Yajiang County. The milestone written by K2895 can be seen about 2 kilometers far from Xindu Bridge Town. Then go ahead riding about 3.5 kilometers long and turn left there. That is G318 National Highway (Sichuan-Tibet Highway).

We will start to climb over Garsi Mountain and meet the Garsi Police Station at K2905. When we stand at the Garsi Mountain Pass and look back, Garsi Mountain is so vast and beautiful with green grassland and colorful flowers. It is amazing plateau scenery. How to say, some tourists describe it as the windows desktop wallpaper.

When you ride downwards, you will find many small Tibetan villages along the way. Please ride slow down on the right and be careful.

We kindly suggest tourists to overnight in Shangkezong Village as the accommodation is not available if you go ahead to Jianziwan Mountain. Azhima Youth Hostel is recommended to you. It is a Tibetan hostel so that you could get to know more about local Tibetan's life.

D7 Shangkezong Village (K2981, 3500m) – 90 Daoban (K2986) – Jianziwan Mountain (K2996, 4659m) – Kazila Police Station – 112 Daoban (K3007) – Kazila Mountain Pass (K3041, 4718m) – 158 Daoban (K3054, 4090m)

It may be a tired day, as you will ride along 15-kilometer long up slope and about 61-kilometer long up and down slops. Base on most of tourists' experience, it may take you about 11 hours riding today. You'd better depart Shangkezong Village about 6:30 am, as the wind is very strong along the way. Besides, you'd better take enough water as it is really hard to find the water today.

D8 158 Daoban (K3054, 4090m) – Honglong Village (K3063, 4163m) – Kera Village (K3076) – Litang (K3100, 4014m)

It is approximately 46 kilometers far from 158 Daoban to Litang. You can depart 158 Daoban later. Today you will ride on the highland grassland which is over 4000 meters high. Honglong Village is about 5 kilometers far from 158 Daoban. After passing Honglong Village we will reach K3069 Mountain Pass and start to ride downwards. At K3074 we will reach 188 Daoban. You can pay some money to overnight there. K3093 Mountain Pass is about 4312 meters high and about 7 kilometers far from Litang. In general, we can get to Litang at about 13:00 today.

Litang is a natural and beautiful place on the way to Tibet. It is not only the hometown of the 7th Dalai Lama and the 10th Dalai Lama's, but also the birthplace of the 3rd Mongolian imperial master. Therefore, it is highly praised as the holy land of Tibet and the pearl of Tibet plateau.
