It is approximately 57 kilometers far from Xingou to Luding. It is asphalt road. Today you still need to wrap your head well, as there are many bees along the way. When you reach the plateau grassland after passing Erlang Mountain Tunnel, you need to protect your skin and eyes as the sunshine is so strong there.
The light is available in the tunnel. Ride upwards about 2 kilometers and then we will reach the highest place today – K2743, 2250m high. Afterwards, you will ride along the first long down slope of Sichuan-Tibet Highway. The road condition is relatively gentle and flat. You are kindly suggested to check the safety quality performance of your bicycle again and wear the gloves and kneecaps.
There are two viewing deck along the way. You can have a rest and enjoy the sightseeing there.
Generally speaking, most of bicycle enthusiasts would reach Luding City before 14:00. If you feel okay, you could ride ahead to Kangding today.
As for the accommodation, we kindly suggest Luding Dengpa Hostel which is located in the right side of the filling station. The free internet and free washing machine are both provided.
The gravel road and asphalt road are both available along the way. It is approximately 51 kilometers in total today.
Well, the road condition is fine from Luding to Wasi Valley. People always say the real difficult of Sichuan-Tibet Highway starts from Wasi Valley. The slope gradient suddenly increases in Wasi Valley. The accommodation is available in Wasi Valley if you would like to.
Today we will ride along the tributary of Dadu River and reach Kangding finally. Kangding is the capital of Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Sichuan Province, but also the birthplace of Tibetan Guozhuang Culture and Tea-horse business. We are going to go ahead to Tibet plateau from Kangding tomorrow.
As for the accommodation, we kindly suggest the Dengpa Hostel. Both of the free internet and washing machine are provided there. Besides, you could get some supplies in Kangding.
It is approximately 78 kilometers far from Kangding to Xindu Bridge Town. There are not any restaurants along the way, so that you'd better take some solid food in advance.
Today we will pass over Zhedo Mountain which is 4298 meters high. It usually takes about 8-10 hours. Please be careful and do not shout. The high altitude sickness may be caused there. Afterwards, we will reach Zhedo Village. You could spend some time there to enjoy the hot spring.
Generally speaking, the east part of Zhedo Mountain is the mountain area, but the west part of Zhedo Mountain is Qinghai-Tibet Plateau area in Tibet region. Zhedo Mountain will be covered by the snow all year round except June, July and August.
In addition, please ride slow down when you ride downwards. Finally, we will reach Xindu Bridge.
As for the accommodation, we kindly suggest Dengpa Hostel. Both of the free internet and washing machine are offered there. If you are lucky enough, you could overlook the main peak of Gonggar Mountain in the hostel.
