2013 Lhasa Riding Tour

D23 Songdo Town (K4456, 4288m) – Mila Mountain (K4484, 5013m) – Rido Village (K4508, 4370m) – Mozhu Kongkya (K4563, 3830m) – Datse County (K4610, 3700m) – Lhasa City (K4632, 3650m)

The asphalt road is about 176 kilometers long in total. Today you may feel exhausted, but no worries, you will be successful to reach Lhasa City. Well, we kindly suggest you depart from Songdo Village earlier such as 6:30.

Bangyetang Grassland

Mila Mountain Pass is about 28 kilometers far from Songdo Town and the road condition is fine today. Banggyetang Grassland is located at K4469. After passing Bangyetang Grassland, we will go ahead along the Niyang River. There are many ups and downs on the way to K4475 with the higher elevation. Mila Mountain Pass is available at K4484 and it is the first mountain pass of Sichuan-Tibet Highway (G318 National Highway), but also the last mountain pass before we reach Lhasa City.

Please do not stay long time in Mila Mountain Pass, as you will successfully reach Lhasa City today. There is an eco-environmental toilet available in Mila Mountain. You will see many flying prayer flags over there.

The down slope is very gentle. After passing K4503, you will reach Rido Village. We kindly recommend the noodles of Bome Restaurant for your reference. It tastes very delicious and fresh.

Afterwards you will ride a bicycle to Mozhu Gongkya County in Tibet which is about 55 kilometers far away. You could overnight in Mozhu Kongkya County if you would like to spend your rest time today here. There are some popular attractions in Mozhu Kongkya County, such as the birthplace of Songtsen Gampo, Sanga Monastery, Apei Manor, and ancient cypress, etc.

And then you will ride on the gentle ups and downs along Lhasa River to Lhasa City. Do not treat it lightly, even though the road condition is good. Datse County is about 47 kilometers far from Mozhu Kongkya County, located at K4610. Lhasa City is only 22 kilometers far in front of you.

After passing the Lhasa checkpoint, you will probably see the golden roof of Potala Palace along the way. K4632 is available on the Lhasa Bridge.

If you would like to go ahead your riding tour after Tibet tour, or just want to send your bicycle to another domestic city of China in advance, there is some advice for your information. We hope that they are helpful for you.

1. Lhasa Merida Exclusive Shop: located in Jinzhu Road, Lhasa City. They could help you to pack your baggage and send it to another domestic city of China. The haulage fee is 200-300 RMB.

2. Giant Lhasa Exclusive Shop: located in Linko Eastern Road, Lhasa City. They could also help you to send your package. The cost is 200-300 RMB.

As for the accommodation in Lhasa City, we kindly recommend you Youth Hostel – about 40 meters back of Yak Hotel, 200-300 RMB per person, and Dengpa Hostel – about 100 meters far from Jokhang Temple, 200-300 RMB per person.
