Tibet Tourism Enters into Its Peak Season

Tibet Tourism enters into its peak season with the coming of May. Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple and some other noted scenic spots in Lhasa received more than 1000 tourists (domestic tourists and inbound tourists) every day. The number of tourists visited Potala Palace and Jokhang Temple has broken up 1200 recent days.

Tibet tour operators adjust their tourism products to meet the demand of the tourists. It should be noted that most of them provide various Mt. Everest tour routes for inbound tourists' reference. Besides, some trekking activities were added into several classic routes, tourists could do some trekking activities around Lake Namtso, Ganden Monastery or Mt. Everest Base Camp.

The number of tourists visited Potala Palace keeps increasing every day since early April. Various Tibetan style handicrafts on Barkhor Street were adopted by tourists though their price is relatively higher than that in the low season. Most of the tourists hold that purchase some interesting and valuable souvenirs is one of their must-do things in Tibet.

To better meet the demand of both the tourists and local pilgrimages, the administration office of Potala Palace designed two routes in Potala Palace. The tourists could witness the cultural and historical relics while the pilgrimages could show their respect to the Buddhas in Potala Palace. Besides, to better protect Potala Palace and decrease the reception pressure, the number of the entrance tickets of Potala Palace would be limited. Tourists could book the tickets through the tour operator in advance.
