It is even colder in the night after middle October though the temperature would be very pleasant during the daytime under the warm sunshine. Tourists willing to travel to Tibet in winter 2013 could reserve the train ticket through the official website (www.12306.cn) of the Ministry of Railways of China. According to the current ticket purchasing policy, tourists could book the Tibet train ticket 20 days in advance. It should be noted that the passport number is required while booking the ticket and the original copy of your passport should be provided while change your paper ticket at the wickets.

Travel to Tibet in Winter 2013 – Recommended Spots

Scenic spots in Lhasa, Shigatse, Nyingchi or some other regions with relatively lower altitude are the main recommended spots for tourists planning to travel to Tibet in winter 2013. Destinations like Mt. Kailash, Lake Manasarovar, Mt. Everest Base Camp, Namtso Lake or some other spots with high altitude are not suitable to be visited in winter for it would be severe cold in theses places and the road to these destinations might be blocked with snow. But recent years Namtso Lake is opened to visitors in the winter season for relevant departments have employed the snow clear to clean the snow on the way to the holy lake and the transportation is rarely influenced.
