What to Buy in Ngari Prefecture

It is a wild area with profound history and abundant products of Ngari Prefecture, however it is far from Tibet center, Lhasa City. If you prefer Ngari Prefecture to be one your destinations during Tibet tour, there may be few popular souvenirs listed for your reference, such as local national Tibetan blanket, sharp Tibetan knife, religious Tibetan Thangka, colorful Tibetan masks, beautiful sachet, exquisite horn comb, useful cashmere and the most popular wooden bowl and so on.

Travel Tips of Ngari Tour - Transportation to Ngari

Some regular flights are operated between Lhasa and Ngari Prefecture on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays every week. This airline has been opened to public since July 26th, 2011 and managed by Ali Kunsha Airport. Even though few flights are available currently, it helps people who would like to travel to Ngari Prefecture within limited time and make the transportation more convenient. Taking the flight is much more comfortable than taking a car absolutely. But there may be a problem caused by the few people who take the flight every year that, the flights between Nagri Prefecture and Lhasa City would be canceled sometimes. Therefore, it is better for you to inquiry Tibet Travel Agency before you plan a Ngari Tour.

In addition, there are some other highways lead to Ngari Prefecture for your information, and some of them are very popular for the explorers and hikers.

Depart from Lhasa to Latse along the National Road 318 and then enter Ngari Prefecture. It is asphalt road and the road condition is good. It is called the southern route. It usually takes 2 days driving.

Along the northern route to reach Ngari Prefecture by way of Lhasa, Shigatse, Choqyem County, Gaize County and Gegye County. The final destination would be the Shiquan Town. It usualy takes 3 days driving.

This one is well known for most of the enthusiasts of explorers and hikers. They would like to enter Ngari Prefecture via the National Road 219 from Yecheng of Xinjiang. It usually takes the whole day driving to the Shiquan River Town from Yecheng.
