Just because of the unpredictable dangers along Sichuan-Tibet Highway, more and more tourists want to conquer this wild route. But it is unreasonable to make ourselves in danger for nothing. The true success is successfully arriving in the Tibet, doesn't it? Therefore we kindly suggest our tourists to drive slowly as much as possible. Meanwhile, the driver should highly concentrate your attention while driving. If you have enough budgets, it is better to take another driver who is familiar with terrain along Sichuan-Tibet Highway. He may know the places where the natural disasters such as the rainstorm, mud-rock flow, and the collapse, etc, usually happened. The practiced driver may be very helpful when you are in danger.

Tips of Self-driving along Sichuan-Tibet Highway – How to Drive the Car

1. It is not easy to drive the car on plateau along Sichuan-Tibet Highway. Sometimes the power of the car may be weaken. The brake may be intenerated on the way. Sometimes the noise becomes bigger without any energy when you are accelerating. Be careful.

2. Pay attention to the stones on the way. It is a local habit that put some stones around your car if you car is broken.

3. Well, pay attention to the animals which suddenly appeared in front of your car. Do not change your steering wheel urgently if you are driving along the slope of the mountains. The other side may be a deep cliff.

4. When you are taking a rest, you'd better communicate with the local people. They may tell you whether the road ahead is good or not. They are more familiar with the road condition than you.

5. Do not start your journey along Sichuan-Tibet Highway alone. Three or more vehicles in the group are reasonable and safe. They can help each other during the journey.

6. Learn the simple repair skills.

7. You could drive the car by turns.

Tips of Self-driving along Sichuan-Tibet Highway – Local Folk Customs

1.There are many sheep and cattle with the colorful flags on the way. Do not drive them off, or hunt them. They are the free captive animals of local Tibetans.

2.Do not hunt the bald eagle, as it is regarded as the sacred bird for Tibetans.

3.Do not get into any temples if you are not allowed by the monks. Please respect the Buddha statue if you are allowed to enter the temple. Do not touch the Buddha statues or the Buddhist scriptures without any permission.

4.Do not spit everywhere. It is impolite in Tibet.

5.Please respect the pilgrims on the way. They usually crawl to Lhasa to show their respect to Buddhism.

6.If you are invited to visit local Tibetan family, please do not step on the threshold.

7.If Tibetan people protrude the tongue to you, it means greetings and respect.

8.You may find some mysterious celestial burial places along Sichuan-Tibet Highway. To respect the relatives of the dead people, we are not allowed to watch the ceremonies of the celestial burial. It is a local custom.
