Special Native Products in Tibet – Ginseng Fruit

The ginseng is a kind of renascent herb with a general height of 10-25 centimeters. It has green leaves and yellow flower. The pulpa of the ginseng fruit has a white color and tastes sweet. The ginseng distributes in different regions on Tibet Plateau and tourists making a Tibet tour could witness the ginseng easily in the pasturing area. It is said that the ginseng is effective in strengthening the spleen and stomach, enriching the blood, and producing saliva and slaking thirst. It is frequently used as the raw material of some Tibetan style snacks.

Special Native Products in Tibet – Snow Saussurea

The snow saussurea is one of the Three Treasures (the other two are snow cock and snow leopard). It grows in the macadams in the area with an altitude of 4800-5800 meters. The seed of the snow saussurea would sprout at 0 Celsius and grow at 3-5 Celsius. The snow saussurea is very cold-resistant and its seedling could even survive the -21 Celsius environment. The 5-year old snow saussurea would bloom in the autumn. It is a rare and precious medicinal material which only grows in Tibet. It is pretty effective in curing the cough and lumbago due to kidney –asthenia.

The fritillary grows in the boscage and alpine meadow with an elevation of 4000-5000 meters. Generally, the local Tibetans would go to the high mountains to gather the fritillary between August and September. The taste of the fritillary is sweet but a little bitter. The doctors said that it is very effective in clearing heat and moistening the lung and stopping coughing. Special Native Products in Tibet – Rhodiola Rosea

There are about 90 species of rhodiola rosea in the world and most of them growth in the severe cold area with an altitude of 3500-5000 meters. It is researched that there are 32 species of rhodiola rosea in Tibet. The Tibetans always use the rhodiola rosea to cure the hemoptysis, pneumonia and cough. Tourists planning a Tibet tour and are worried about the possible high altitude sickness could take some rhodiola rosea about half a month in advance since it is prett effective in the precaution of the high altitude sickness.

Special Native Products in Tibet – Cordyceps

The cordyceps is one of the most famous and precious medicinal material in Tibet. The taste of the cordyceps is sweet but a little sour with good smell. It is pretty effective in physical strengthening for it contains numerous nutrients, including the crude protein, fat, cordycepic acid, vitamin B12 and so on. Besides, it is commonly adopted for moistening the lung and tonifying the kidney.
