Tourists who've visited Tibet might have found that the overall condition of the accommodation in Tibet is relatively lower than that in the eastern cities in China. But, the accommodation in different regions in Tibet keeps improving with the increasing number of visitors in recent years. Tibet Tour would like to make a brief introduction of the hotels in various prefectures in Tibet for tourists planning a Tibet tour in 2014.

Lhasa City and Shigatse City are two of the largest cities in Tibet, and the accommodation in these two cities are much better than that in the lagged remote regions. Differnt levels of star standard hotels could meet the demands of tourists from different corners of the world. There are also many choices in hotels for tourists willing to stay overnight in Nyingchi and Tsedang.

Hotels in Lhasa

Tourists travelling to Lhasa don't need to be worried about the accmmodation at all. There are different levels of hotels for visitors' reference, incluidng the budget guest house, 3/4 star standard hotels and luxury 5 star hotels (such as St. Regis and Sheraton Hotel). To experience the local culture, a large number of visitors are interested in the local Tibean style hotels decorated with various Tibetan handicrafts.

Hotels in Shigatse

Shigatse is rich in both natural sites and cultural relics. Visitors visiting Shigatse and have higher demand in accommodation are strongly suggested to stay overnight in Shigatse City. The price of the 3/4 star hotels is pretty acceptable in the shoulder season. There are only guesthouses with limited condition in the remote counties and towns in Shigatse. Tourists visiting Mt. Everest Base Camp could have a night halt in the guesthouse in Shegar.

Hotels in Nyingchi

The accommodation condition in Nyingchi is greatly improved recent years. Different levels of hotels allow tourists to make choice according to your preference. It should be noted that the star standard hotels are only available in Bayi Town - the administrative center of Nyingchi Prefecture. There are only guesthouse in the remote counties in Nyingchi, which means tourist planning to do make a trekking tour to Medog could only stay overnight in the guesthouses.

Hotels in Shannan

Noted as the cradle land of Tibetan civilization, Shannan keeps attracting visitors with its splendid culture. The accommodation in Tsedang Town is pretty plesant. Generally, tourists could spend 1-2 days to visit the famous historical sites in Shannan. Samye Monastery, Yungbu Lakhang and Trandruk Monastery are of great attraction for tourists interested in Tibetan Buddhism and traditional Tibetan culture.

Hotels in Nagqu

There is no real star standard hotel in Nagqu, and there are only guesthouses in Ngaqu Town. Namtso Lake is the most famous site in Nagqu. Tourists visiting Namtso Lake and willing to have a night halt there could only make choices among the gusthouse at Namtso and the guesthouse at Nagqu Town. Tourists should note that accommodation condition in the guesthouse at Namtso Lake is very poor, and it is necessary to prepare a warm sleepingbag to get yourself protected from the low temperature.
