According to the report, one agreement has been signed by Qamdo government and Tibet Airline Company that the flight between Chongqing and Qamdo Prefecture of Tibet will be operated on April 1st, 2014. There will be three flight schedules once a week.
As of now, the flight between Qamdo and Chengdu has been run for 20 years and promoted Qamdo economy and society well. But the traffic problem of Qamdo Prefecture still restricts many aspects of local people's daily life. Hence, the agreement is highly paid attention by both of Chongqing Government and Qamdo Government.
Qamdo Prefecture is situated in the east part of Tibet flew through by Jinsha River, Lancang River, and Nu River. It is highly praised as the pearl of eastern Tibet, but also the gate of eastern Tibet.
Qamdo Bangda Airport is renowned as the farthest civil airport from the city center. Also, the climate over there is the worst of the world. It is located in the Bangda Prairie in Qamdo Prefecture in eastern Tibet, the valley of the western river bank of Yuqu River. It is 4334 meters high and the runway is 5 kilometers long. It is the longest runway in China. There is respectively one flight between Lhasa and Qamdo, Chengdu and Qamdo once a day.
