The hotels, hostels and guesthouses are available for tourists in Qamdo Prefecture. The facilities are general, safe and healthy.

Kangsheng Hotel is located in the east of the passenger station in Qamdo Prefecture, about 5 minutes' walking. It provides the individual toilet, TV, hot water service and other general facilities. It costs about 300RMB per person each room.

Guangming Hostel is located across from the Kangsheng hotel. The price is much lower, about 50 RMB per bed per person. Both of the bathhouse and the hot water are provided, but the hot water is provided regularly in a day.

By Air

Qamdo Bangda Airport is the highest civil aviation airport throughout the world. It is about 4334 meters high, about 130 kilometers away from the downtown of Qamdo prefecture. If you would like to take a taxi from the city center to the airport, you may spend 300 RMB. There are only two airlines of this airport, Lhasa and Chengdu. It spends approximately 1 hour from Chengdu to Qamdo Prefecture, and few tens of minutes between Lhasa and Qamdo Prefecture.

Please pay attention to the delayed issue of Qamdo Bangda Airport, which has happened very frequently.

By Highway

It is a little far from each county in Qamdo Prefecture. The long-distance passenger train is available between Chengdu and Qamdo (spends about 3 days), Lhasa and Qamdo (about 4 days), Mangkang and Qamdo, Ngari and Qamdo, Nyingchi and Qamdo, Bome and Qamdo, etc. It takes relatively longer time on the way.

The months of May, June, and September are the best time to travel to Qamdo prefecture in a year.
