Potala Palace

Full View of Lhasa

The holy city – Lhasa is highly wishful for more and more people of home and abroad. The pure plateau sunshine, limpid highland water, colorful religious Tibetan building, mysterious culture, and ancient folk customs, etc, deeply attract lots of modern people. Most of us are enchanted of Lhasa City and regard it as our last pure land in heart.

Potala Palace

Potala Palace is the symbol of entire Tibet region. It is not only a magnificent palace building but also a valuable religious and cultural treasure. It was established in AD 7th century and divided to the red palace and white palace. The red palace is standing at the center and taking charge of all the religious affairs. The white palace is standing next to the red palace and it is acted as the living room and office of Dalai Lama's.

Location: No. 35 of Beijing Middle Road of Chengguan District.

Yaowang Hill

Yaowang Hill is located opposite to Potala Palace. It is 3725 meters high and acted as the best place to photograph Potala Palace. There are full of carved Buddha statues and deity statues on the cliffs all around.

Location: Norbulingka Road of Chengguan District.

Dragon King Deep Pool

Dragon King Deep Pool is well known as the leisure garden of Lhasa City. It is one of the favorable places of Tibetan people. There is a small monastery nearby Dragon King Deep Pool. The statues of Sakyamuni and the dragon king are enshrined and worshipped in the small monastery. The religious ceremony is held on April 15th every year.

Location: Back of Potala Palace, Chengguan District.

Lukang Park

Sometimes the Tibetan drama performance will be held in Lukang Park, and some of them are free for visitors. If you are interested in the social life of Tibetan people, it is a better place for your information.

Location: the east part of Potala Palace, Chengguan District.

Jokhang Temple

It is one of the most important monasteries of Tibet. It was established in Tang Dynasty and highly respected by all the religious sects. It sits in the east toward to the west. There are 20 halls in Jokhang Temple. It is 4-floor high and covered by a golden top. There are numerous murals and religious treasures inside Jokhang Temple, such as the statue of 12-year-old Sakyamuni's.

Location: Barkhor Street, Chengguan District.

Barkhor Street

It is actually a 1000-meter long street around Jokhang Temple. It is a religious, cultural, and national gathering place of Lhasa City. There are full of unique shops in different national style in Barkhor Street. It is regarded as the oldest street in Lhasa City.

Location: Barkhor Street, Chengguan District.

Ramoche Temple

It was established at the same time with Jokhang Temple and highly respected by Gelug Sect. It is characteristic of the architecture style of Han people and Tibetan people. There is a statue of 8-year-old Sakyamuni and numerous Thangka in the Ramoche Temple.

Location: Ramoche Temple Road of Chengguan District.

Open time: 09:00-18:00, excluding Tuesday.
