10 Necessary Equipments for Camping in Tibet

Update: Feb. 6th, 2013

Camp in Tibet

1.Backpack with a capacity of 50-80 liters. The waistband and shoulder straps of the backpack should be thick and solid. A rain cover for the backpack should also be prepared. The backpack is one of the most necessary equipments for camping in Tibet since it will carry all your camping stuffs. Tourists planning to join the Tibet adventure tours should not only pursue the brand of the backpack and ignore the practical applicability of the backpack.

2.Tent is one of the main equipments for camping in Tibet. Waterproofness should be taken into your first consideration while choosing the tent. A practical tent will provide you a temporary home which could protect you from the rain and cold. It should be noted that the double-deck tent is one heavier than the unilaminar tent. Generally, the tent has a capacity of 2-3 people.

3.Tourists planning to camp in Tibet should prepare a suitable sleeping bag which could protect you from the cold in the night. Generally, the ordinary mummy style sleeping bag is warm enough if you are planning to join the Tibet trekking tours in summer. It is very important to select the most practical sleeping bag according to the specific temperature of the camping sites in your plan. The eiderdown sleeping bag would be a better choice for tourists planning a Tibet tour in winter.

4.The moisture-proof pad is also quite necessary for camping in Tibet. It will get you protected from the damp and cold and ensure you a comfortable sleep when the ground at your campsite is not so flat.

5.A kettle with a capacity of 0.75-1 liter can ensure the drinking water supply of tourists planning to camp in Tibet. Tourists could also choose a mineral water bottle instead of the kettle if you want to decrease your burden during the trip.

6.An electric torch could always help you in the night while camping in Tibet. Some of the tourists would like to choose a head light so as to free their hands. However, standby battery should always be prepared.

7. A medical box with band-aid, analgesic, antibiotic, bandage and commonly used medicines effective in curing the cold should be prepared in case of need. Right emergency treatment will greatly protect you from further hurt.

8. Some of the professional explorers would also bring the GPS, map, compass and telescope into their backpack for their camping in Tibet. In addition, the sunglasses, sun bonnet and sun-blocking cream should always be prepared to deal with the long sunshine duration and strong ultraviolet radiation on Tibet Plateau, especially in summer.

9.Except for the necessary equipments, the food supply is also of great importance for camping in Tibet. To get the necessary nutrients in the depopulated wild on Tibet Plateau, tourists are strongly suggested to prepare some simple but nutritious solid food, such as boiled tea eggs, ham, dried meat floss, chocolate and so on.

10.For the protection of the fragile ecological environment on Tibet Plateau, tourists planning to camp in Tibet are highly advised to prepare several refuse bags to collect rubbish to the towns instead of leaving them in the nature.
