Ngari Plateau Enters into Its Peak Tourism Season

Ngari Plateau is praised as "the Roof of the Roof of the World" with an average elevation of more than 4500 meters. The holy lake and mountain and lake – Mt. It is the miniature of the ancient Guge Kingdom with a splendid history of more than 700 years. Guge Kingdom played important role in the development of Tibetan Buddhism. It sent Buddhists to Kashmir to study Buddhism and there were 108 Buddhism scriptures were translated into Tibetan during the reign of Guge Kingdom. In 1042, Attisha – an eminent Indian Buddhist came to spread the Buddhism on Ngari Plateau. Since then Ngari acted as an important place for the rejuvenation of Tibetan Buddhism.

Guge Kingdom also played important role in the economic and culture development of Tibet. Some of the important Indian Buddhism scriptures were spread to other regions of Tibet from Ngaro Plateau.
