Nagqu Prefecture belongs to the sub-frigid zone. It is pretty cold, windy and dry all around the year. The average annual temperature is -0.9? to -3.3?. The annual relative humidity is 48 percent to 51 percent and the annual precipitation is 380 millimeters. The annual sunshine duration is 2852.6-2881.7 hours. There is no absolute frost-free period all around the year.

Nagqu enjoys a plateau sub-frigid monsoon sub-humid climate. The winter here lasts almost half a year. There is a large daily temperature difference and a small annual temperature difference. The blizzard period lasts from October to May of the next year. The annual precipitation concentrated in the period between June and September.

Tibet Weather – Nyingchi

Nyingchi is one of the most noted tourism area in Tibet. It has a warm and humid weather. It has the best ecological environment and the lowest altitude in Tibet. Nyingchi is the place where the tourists could adapt themselves to the plateau environment.

Nyingchi is not very hot in summer and not very cold in winter. The highest and lowest temperature here is 23? and -4? respectively. The best time to make a visit to Ningchi is September and October.

It is a good choice to trek to Medog and Yarlung Zangbo River Valley for expedition. But these places are only available between May and October. In the left months of the year, they would be closed because of the heavy snows.

Bomi, Zayul and Medog at southeast Nyingchi are attractive places for tourists. Natural disasters, including mud-rock flow, landslide and collapse would frequently happen in the rainy season (May – September). You should pay special attention to the local weather forecast if you are planning to trek or drive to these places.
