Weather in Lhasa

Reputed as "The Roof of the World", Lhasa, the capital city of the Tibet Autonomous Region, locates in the north of the Himalayas. Influenced by the downdraughts, the weather in Lhasa is sunny in most days. As the weather in Lhasa belongs to plateau monsoon and semiarid climate, it’s neither too cold in winter nor too hot in summer.

Weather in Lhasa-Beautiful Sunshine

Known as the “sun city”, Lhasa enjoys long sunshine hours and the average annual sunshine hours reach more than 3000 hours. In the fierce sunshine, any sluggish soul would get much stronger. In the sunshine , the mountains are bluer and the trees are greener. In the sunshine, the air is so fresh that when you take a deep breath of it, you feel like the foul air deposited in your lung is cleared away. In the sunshine, the rivers are so bright and clean. Every drop of the water is crystal clear and every wave is hyaloid, which make you feel holy. People are often moved by the temples in the sunshine. Those temples stand at the feet of the mountains, mountainsides or the top of the mountains. Wherever they locates, the temples always seem dignified, solemn, peaceful, holy and pure and they catch your eyes easily. While enjoying the sunshine, tourists need to pay attention to the ultraviolet rays in the sunshine. The intense ultraviolet rays in the sunshine may cause burns to skin and eyes if you do not take some measures to protect them. Weather in Lhasa- Temperature

Although Lhasa enjoys a lot of sunshine of the year, it is not hot even in summer. The average temperature is low and big temperature difference exists between day and night. In June, the average temperature is 15.7? and the maximum temperature is 22.9?. The temperature is the highest in June of the year. In January, the average temperature of the year is -2? and the lowest temperature is -9.7? and the temperature is the lowest in January of the year. In the past few decades, the extreme maximum temperature is 29.6? and the extreme minimum temperature is -16.5?, which are relatively occurred in June and January. As it’s neither too cold in winter nor too hot in summer, the best season for Lhasa Tours is summer.
