Shigatse Landscape

Shigatse is located at the confluence of Yarlung Zangbo River and Nianchu River in southern Tibet. Shigatse has a mild weather with an average annual temperature of 6.3?. Various natural landscapes are available in different seasons.

There are three main regional climates in Shigatse Prefecture: the plateau temperate semiarid monsoon climate, plateau sub-frigid semiarid monsoon climate and plateau temperate sub-humid monsoon climate. It has long sunshine duration and the average annual sunshine duration reaches 3300 hours. The annual average temperature in western Shigatse, eastern Shigatse is 0? and 6.5? respectively.

Shigatse enjoys a plateau temperate semiarid climate. There is a big temperature difference between day and night. The lowest temperature reaches -25? in winter and the highest temperature reaches 23? in summer. The annual average temperature is 6.3?.

Shigatse has been one of the most attractive attractions in Tibet. It keeps attracting tourists here with its ancient culture, magnificent monastery architectures, splendid natural landscapes and advantageous geographic location.

It is not so suitable to make an expedition to Mt. Everest between October and April of the next year since it is very cold in this period. Besides, July and August are the rainy season of a year; it is hard to take a clear look of Mt. Everest.
