Tsada Soil Forest

Tsada Soil Forest is located in Tsada County of Ngari Prefecture of Tibet Region. The terrain of Tsada soil forest is a great feature of Ngari. Tsada Soil Forest is formed by the thousands of years of geological changes. Actually there are a lot of "natural forest scenery" formed with soil, stone, and serac in China, but Tsada Soil Forest has the great charm among them, which attracts a lot of people from home and abroad to come. The famous beautiful Shangquan River flows through the valleys in the Tsada Soil Forest, which looks like a fairyland and a fantastic world. When the sunset glow shines this area, the soil forest looks like castles, watchtowers, palaces, and tentages, all of which totally shocked and surprised our eyes and heart.

Tsada Soil Forest - Brief Introduction

Tsada Soil Forest is the most attractive and amazing scenery of Tsada County. The area around Tuolin Town is the most beautiful covering an area of approximately 888 square kilometers, which mainly located over the elevation of 3750-4450 meters high. The total coverage of Tsada Soil Forest is approximately 2464 square kilometers, which is the most typical and largest soil forest throughout the world.

Tsada Soil Forest - Formation History

Tsada Soil Forest is formed by the thousands of years of geological changes. According to the record of geologists textual research, there was a huge lake which covered more than 500 square kilometers between Tsada and Pulan about millions of years ago. After the rise of lake basin influenced by Himalaya orogenesis and the descent of the water line, the places look like "buildings" appeared and finally formed the shape that we see today.

Tsada Soil Forest - Attraction

Along the Ria Highway of Lion Spring River towards the south direction about 255 kilometers, Tsada Soil Forest stretches to Shangquan River Valley and reach Tsada County of Ngari Prefecture. The soil forest is the most attractive and magnificent scenery in Tsada County, which is a type of special terrain influenced by the orogenesis in old times and weathering. The fall difference of the "tress" in the soil forest is tens of meters high. The "trees" features the grotesque shape which look funny and interesting. When we drive in the soil forest, we feel like circling in the sole of the foot of the giant.

Generally speaking, we drive from the Lion Spring River to Tsada Soil Forest, which usually takes 6-8 hours on the way.

The best season for photography

Spring and autumn are the best seasons for photography. August is not good for photographing because it is a rainy season.

The best location for photography

There is a viewing deck for photographing Tsada Soil Forest scenery approximately 30 kilometers away from Tsada County. It usually takes 1 hour driving on the way. The viewing deck has the one of the best angles for take photos of the soil forest sceneries.

The sunset usually appears around 21 o'clock. If you would like to enjoy the sunset glow of sunrise scenery, please take care of prevent the strong wind. Besides, the road condition between the viewing deck and the Tsada County is a little dangerous, which has the steep slope and urgent turning one the way, and hundreds of fall difference of the elevation.

Tsada Soil Forest - Accommodation

Tsada Hotel is highly recommended to you because it is almost the best hotel in local. It has the best location where can enjoy Shangquan River and Toling Monastery in front of the hotel.

It is 2-floor high, supported by Hebei Province of China. The general facilities such as bed, TV, shower, etc, are provided but not very well.
