Travel to Tibet in Winter to Enjoy Unique Natural Landscape

With the improving transportation condition, an increasingly number of tourists willing to spend their winter vacation in Tibet. As we all known, there is obvious peak season and low season for Tibet tour, and most tourists willing to travel to Tibet in summer. Recent years, Tibet Tourism Bureau put great emphasis in the advertising and marketing of Tibet tour products in winter, more and more tourists both at home and abroad willing to go to Tibet to appreciate spectacular winter natural landscape.

Tourists who've been to Tibet in summer must be impressed by the scenic spots crowded with visitors, especially Jokhang Temple, Potala Palace, Tashilhunpo Monastery and some other historical highlights. There is even strict restriction on the number of visitors and visiting time for each visitor in Potala Palace in the peak season. Tourists travel to Tibet in winter would find that the number of visitors in Lhasa is much less than that in the summer high season. Both the price of the admission tickets of the scenic spots and the hotels are relatively lower than the summer season. Besides, visitors here could enjoy a more typical Tibetan style picture composed of devout pilgrims come to Lhasa from faraway places. The praying and murmuring pilgrims have been the most impressive characters in Lhasa in the winter season.

This year, Tibet Tourism Bureau carried out the local preferential policy themed by "travel to Tibet in winter to enjoy the sunshine". It is reported that all the scenic spots in Tibet offer 50 percent discount in the admission tickets for visitors. Also, there is no restriction in the number of daily visitors and each visitor's visiting time. To attract more clients, the star standard hotels in Lhasa also provide great discount for tourists. Compared to the summer high season, tourists could spend less money and enjoy better hotel facilities & services.

It should be noted that there is certain difference in the climate on Tibet Plateau between summer and winter, though the climate here is characterized by obvious temperature difference between day and night all year around. Tourists traveling to Tibet will find that there is lovely sunshine in the daytime and the temperature would be relatively higher compared to the regions in the same latitude. But the temperature will drop suddenly and rapidly with the sunset. In addition, compared to summer, the oxygen content is relatively lower in the cold air in winter.

In consideration of the severe climate condition on Tibet Plateau, tourists planning to travel too Tibet in winter should make good preparation to protect yourselves from the possible cold and high altitude sickness. Besides, tourists suffering heart diseases, hypertension and certain respiratory diseases are kindly suggested not to travel to Tibet in the winter season for the cold temperature in the night the low oxygen content there are not good for your health. Tourists especially interested in the spots with higher altitude are also advised to make your trip schedule avoid the winter season for the road condition to these higher places is frequently influenced by the snow weather condition.
