Travel in India

Besides the notes of Tibet travel taboos for tourists, there are some notes of traveling in India for your reference, both of which should be paid attention if you have a plan of  Tibet tour from India. It includes some suggestions of customs regulations, healthy care and other aspects.

Notes of Traveling in India

1. Customs regulations: Adults are allowed to take 200 cigarettes and a bottle of wine when you enter to India. Those stuffs that not used by yourselves such as gold jewelry and photographic equipments should additionally pay the tax.

2. When you go into the temples in India, the shoes and vest are not allowed.

3. The time in India is a half and two hours slower than it in Beijing.

4. Medicines: some normal medicines and some emergency medical supplies are highly suggested to take. Better safe than sorry.

5. Drinking water: Actually, the drinking water is available in hotels and restaurants, but you are also suggested to buy some mineral water yourselves.

6. Food: Mostly are Indian flavor, barbecue, curry and spices.

7. Voltage: The average voltage is 220 volt, and the plug is normally the two feet round head plug.

8. Safety: You are kindly suggested to stay in the hotel in night. When you go out, remember to take your valuables such as certifications, cash, traveler's check and credit card, air ticket, and photographic equipments. Or you could leave them in the strong box in the reception desk, and get the receipt back. You could also ask the reception desk to keep the keys of your room when you are outside.

9. The comfortable and light clothes are highly recommended to you when you are traveling.

10. Currency: Dollars and traveler's check are used much in India. You could exchange your dollars into INR(Indian rupee) in India.

11. English is popular in India, so do not worry about it.

12. 10% service charge could be asked by the hotels, no additional tips. In some high-class hotels, 7% of luxury tax will be asked. When you ask for the package service in airport or railway station, you could pay 1 INR to the counter, no additional tips to attendant. But of course, the tips are given as you wish.
