Lhasa Tours – Holy Lakes near Lhasa

Generally, tourists could make a visit to the historical and cultural relics in Lhasa City. There is still a large number of tourists would like to pay a visit to the natural scenic spot which is not far away from Lhasa during the Lhasa tours. The holy lakes – Yamdrok Ymtso and Lake Namtso are most noted ones among all the natural relics around Lhasa City.

Lhasa Tours – Yamdrok Yumtso

Yamdrok Yumtso is one of the three holy lakes in Tibet which is most-visited since it is only about 70 kilometers away from Lhasa. Most of the tourists would make a visit to Yamdrok Yumtso on their way to Shigatse. For tourists who planning to join the 4-5 days Lhasa tours, Yamdrok Yumtso might be the best place for tourists to enjoy the amazing natural landscapes of lake and mountain in Tibet.

Yamdrok Yumtso is as clean as a mirror. The lakeside here is a natural plateau pasture with fertile soil and exuberant forage. At the end of spring and early summer, flocks of herds would come to the islands under the guidance of their shepherds. They would not back to the lakeside till winter since Yamdrok Yumtso would freeze in winter.

Yamdrok Lake is regarded as a holy lake by local Tibetans. They think that the lake could help them to find the reincarnation of Daila Lama. Local Tibetans would hold special ceremonies at Yamdrok Yumtso to find the reincarnation of Dalai Lama. Tourists pay a visit to the lake during the Lhasa tours could witness some religious pilgrims circumambulating around the lake.

Lhasa Tours - Lake Namtso

Lake Namtso is about 250 kilometers away from Lhasa. Tourists who interested in the natural landscape of Tibet during the Lhasa tours could make a visit to Lake Namtso since it only takes few hours to drive to the lake. But please note that the way stretching toward Lake Namtso is always blocked by the snow in the winter.

The snow-capped Nyainqentanglha Mountains is located in the south of Lake Namtso. There are plateaus and hills in the north and west of the lake. The grand lakeside is of fertile soil and green grassland. There are abundant fish resources in the lake and rich wild animal resources at the lake basin. The Lake Namtso and the mountains around it form an amazing picture.
