Performance in Tibetan New Year Festival

As we all know, the low season of Tibet tour mainly refers to the period from November to March in next year. During this period, there are many special and important festivals in Tibet.

Festivals in Low Season of Tibet Tour- New Year Festival in Gongbu District

According to legends, a war about protecting the homeland from intruding of other races in Gongbu District history shifted the New Year Festival in Gongbu District to earlier date. The New Year Festival in Gongbu District which full of forest region characteristics will be celebrated from October 1st in Tibetan Calendar.

Festivals in Low Season of Tibet Tour – Tibetan Women's Day

It is named Pumu Festival in Tibetan language. It can be regarded as the most interesting festival among the festivals in low season of Tibet tour. In October 15th in Tibetan Calendar, Tibetan women, disregarding their age and status, can ask for money or things from men. Furthermore, the Jokhang Temple will open for free; women need to present Hada to a statue which standing for "female Dharma".

Festivals in Low Season of Tibet Tour – Illumination Festival

The Illumination Festival will be celebrated in October 24th and 25th in Tibetan Calendar to commemorate two Tibetan Buddhism great masters attained wisdom. It is the most beautiful and most moving festival in low season of Tibet tour in Tibet. In the two days, from the twilight just coming, the place in front of every window will be occupied by litten butter lamp. It is a very pleasant process to see the monks lighting thousands butter lamps at the golden top of Jokhang Temple with chanting scripture in their months.

Festivals in Low Season of Tibet Tour – Driving off Evil Spirits Festival

The Driving off Evil Spirits Festival will be celebrated in December 29th in Tibetan Calendar, which is a pure religious festival. In the evening, after dinner, people will light firecrackers and torch, and bum the tsamba which stand for ghosts or evil spirits at crossroads.

Festivals in Low Season of Tibet Tour – Tibetan New Year Festival

The Tibetan New Year Festival is the most hilarious and happy festival. Tibetans will starts to prepare for the Tibetan New Year Festival about one month in advance. The New Year' eve will be a busy night for every Tibetan family. In the first day of the New Year, Tibetans will first take a bucket of auspicious water from river to home, and celebrate at home. In the second day, Tibetans will go out to visit relations. Except for these, there is hilarious outdoor activity – Dancing Guozhuang, which is a kind of Tibetan style group dancing. The Jokhang Temple, where enshrine many Buddha statues is a good place to bless in Tibetan New Year Festival.
