weather in ngari

The inclemency of the weather in Ngari causes complicated road conditions. As a professional Tibet tour operator, we offer some tips for driving in Ngari.

Necessities:

Spade, steel wire rope, carpet, kitchen range in liquefied gas, searchlight, map, and oil barrel are a must, as well as quick-wear parts, especially the damper, plastic cover, fuel filter and spare wheel.

Gas Station:

You should know that the last gas station from the south line to Ngari is in Saga County. After that, there is no fixed gas station in 1500 kilometers. While in the north line, there are gas stations in each county.

Driving Through River and Stream:

When driving through river and stream areas, check the water condition first, make sure the depth of water is safe to cross. Choose the place where has small splash of spray. If there are ruts of heavy tracks, drive between the wheel marks to avoid being obstructed by the bulges.

Driving Through Flooding Areas:

When driving through flooding areas, your car need some changes. Install drain-pipe and air-inflow tube; dismantle the fan belt and jack-plug of generator; cross river with four-wheel-drive system and slowly. When meeting the turning or the flood are higher than the roads surface, do check the road condition carefully. Find out the width of the road and mark the danger areas with branch; be certain of the exact place of the drainage ditch.

Driving Through Debris Flow Areas:

Pay attention to the depth of the wheel marks, if the underpan is high enough, drive with four-wheel-drive system with first gear or second gear. Turn the steering wheel left and right quickly in order to push aside the mud by the front wheels. If unfortunately being stuck in the mud, use reverse gear to drive back slowly. Clear the obstructions then go across.
