What to Pack - Necessary Stuff

Travel to Tibet

Tibet is characteristic of primitive environment and pure people. As its location of the highest roof of the world, Tibet Region is surrounded by the unique climate and large numbers of bergs and jokuls. Some area of Tibet Region located with extreme climate, which is prohibited to enter. Most area of Tibet Region has obvious differences of temperature between the day and night. Thus tourists have to prepare for the necessary stuffs as much as you can during your Tibet Tour. Better Safe than sorry!

By the way, the necessary products are considered as suitable products not the more as you can.

Necessary Stuff – Knapsack

The knapsack with the weight of 45 kilograms is suitable for people, while take a waist pack together for the cash and identification, the passport, the visas and the Tibet travel permits and other valuables.

Necessary Stuff – Clothes

The temperature changes greatly in Tibet Region. Thus in winter  and late autumn tourists are suggested to take the down jacket or fleece clothes, the thermal underwear, warm pants, gloves and hats, all of which are essential products. Depend on the different seasons such as the spring and the summer, the long-sleeved T-shirt is also suitable, besides the raincoat.

Necessary Stuff – Shoes

On the other hand, the trekking shoes are also necessary for you, because some places of Tibet Region are not suitable for other kinds of shoes. Both of the clothes and shoes are suggested for water-repellent.

Necessary Stuff – Food

There are different kinds of Tibetan food and Nepal food. Tibet food is famous for the buttered tea, mutton chop to explode, Tibet steamed stuffed bun and so on.

But some kind of simple and light local food of your country is also suggested to bring. You can choose some in case you are not accustomed to Tibetan food or some other people of your team miss it.

Necessary Stuff – Medicine

Aspirin or paracetamol - for pain or fever.

Antibiotics – When you feel beaten or tired, it will be useful for you or someone.

Antihistamine – for allergies such as hay fever. It is good for easing the itch from insect bites and preventing motion sickness.

Cold and flu tablets, throat lozenges and nasal decongestant – for cold sickness or accident.

Multivitamin – Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Vitamin B1, and Vitamin B6 are suggested to bring when the dietary vitamin intake may be inadequate.

Antidiarrheal – for stomach sickness.

Rehydration misture – for dehydration sickness especially for children.

Antiseptic – such as povidone-iodine for cuts.

Insect repellent, sunscreen, sunglasses, lip balm, eye drops, skin care products

However, please bring your commonly used drugs.

Necessary Stuff – Skin Care Products

Wind and solar radiation are quite strong in Tibet. The skin care products are quite necessary, such as lip balms, sun block, and skin creams,sunglasses especially for ladies. The higher SPF sun-cream should be suitable for women.

Necessary Stuff - Trekking Equipments

In some area of Tibet Region, there are few people to live in. We offer the service of trekking in Tibet Region. Thus for safety but also for fun, it is necessary to prepare trekking equipments beforehand, including sleeping bags, climbing boot, clothes (keep warm, damp-proof), hats and hoods, sunglasses, gloves, socks, kneecap, something can protect your ankle, medicine, personal washing things, ropes, raincoat, GPS, compass, kettle, under clothes (the kind of cotton-padded is not very suitable) damp-proof mat, stoves, cookware and camp kitchen, water filter and purifiers, backpacks, dry bags, trekking poles, hydration system, headlamps and lighting, lighter, camp bathroom, tents, first aid kits, emergency shelters, random handy gear, expedition food, hammocks, multi tools, lock knives, Swiss army Knives, etc. You can choose some to bring as you like. Necessary Stuff – Cash and Credit Card

In Tibet, credit card can only be used in hotels in big cities such as Lhasa and Shigatse. In the meanwhile, enough cash in different denomination is suggested to bring because there is few bank or ATM in some area of Tibet Region.

The electrical current in Tibet is 220v, AC 50 Hz. You need to bring your suitable chargers for your phone and other electronic products.

There are China Construction Bank and Postal Savings Bank of China in Lhasa. But the cash is much more important than your credit card. By the way, the coin is inapplicability in Tibet Region.

1.Pencils – some Tibetans are possible to ask for the pencils of you.

2.Maps – it will be very useful if you get a map of the area that you are planning to visit.
