Feature: The most splendid Tibetan architecture

Treasure: a 12-year-old Shakyamuni Statue

Description: 1300 years ago, Tsizun princess, a wife of Songtsen Gampo, would like to construct a palace to reserve the 8-year-old Shakyamuni statue. Later Wencheng princess, another wife of Songtsen Gampo has decided the location of the palace by Yin and Yang method, i.e, the center of Lhasa city. 1000 white goats have been sacrificed to cover the whole lake. Hence a statue of white goat has been build in the Johkang Temple to get the respect and appreciation from people after finishing. After that, a 12-year-old statue of Shakyamuni Statue has been preserved well in this palace.

It covers a coverage of 25100 square meters with 108 religious halls inside as well as other treasures.
